PCIe packet switch roadmap.   Could you please help provide a roadmap?

Recently, our industrial control computer has a demand for 2 ports for PCIe Gen3 uplink and 4 ports for downlink.   We need a roadmap in this regard

In addition, several chips that are suitable for this application can also be recommended, thank you!

  • Hi Tony,

Unfortunately TI doesn't have packet switches in our PCIe portfolio or roadmap. We had a very old switch product for PCIe Gen 1 but it is now obsolete. The DS160PR421 that you selected as the thread title is a PCIe Gen 4 (also backward compatible to Gen 3 and lower) redriver mux, which can switch the routing of the analog high-speed signals but does not have any digital functions for understanding and forwarding packets. If your architecture is to have 2 upstream ports and 4 downstream ports, the redriver mux/demux products could help switch the PCIe lines between upstream and downstream. But this would be analog switching; the MCU/BMC would have to manually switch the muxes/demuxes like train tracks. So if you are looking for a digital packet switch that can allow simultaneous communication with multiple ports, you will have to check with other vendors.

    Best,

    Evan Su
