TLIN1431-Q1: Difference between TLIN1441-Q1 and TLIN1431-Q1 in terms of safety features

Part Number: TLIN1431-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLIN1441-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

First of all, i would like to know the difference in the safety features between TLIN1441-Q1 and TLIN1431-Q1.

However, the device TLIN1431-Q1, has the safety analysis report and safety manual with safety FIT and metric information.

Could you please clarify why the safety analysis provided for the TLIN1431-Q1 that does not meet the requirements for ASIL B or higher? TLIN1431-Q1 Functional Safety Analysis Report Summary (Rev. A)

Understanding the gaps or reasons behind this classification would be very helpful for our selection and analysis efforts.

Also, could you please share the DC of the SMs' provided in the safety manual. TLIN1431x-Q1 Functional Safety Manual

Let me know if you need any clarification.

Regards,

Anand M

  • Hi Anand,

Please see below block diagrams for their differences:

ASIL B seems to be a system related spec assigned at the system level. Hence, why the device is qualified for the device level. System designers then design with the functional safety documentation to get their systems rated for ASIL B. I.e., The TLIN documentation shows the device is functional-safety capable, providing the safety manual to help system designers calculate device contributions to their system metrics. This implies device-level level metrics are device metrics and do not by default equate to system ASIL claims. The reported device numbers are used to combine with system diagnostics to then show compliance to ASIL B or higher. If the device metrics alone do not meet the system's required targets for the intended system ASIL B goal, the system designer typically includes external diagnostics. I hope this helps in understanding the differences in the classifications.

Furthermore, please see below DC of the SMs, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
