TUSB212: How to run USB2 model in HSPICE environment

Part Number: TUSB212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi Ryan,

This is for Dell server project.

Can you please help to check customer questions about how to run TI’s USB2 model in HSPICE environment. I also have looped you on mail.

  1. Do you have any instructions about how to use this EB_run.sp?
  2. Which ports are input? which ports are output?
  3. Is it acceptable if I implement another vendor’s IBIS model to be the driver or receiver?
  4. By the way, that will be better if you can provide the model with IBIS version.

Customer would like to confirm that the correctness of the port definition.

Did you meant to set the order as output_n   input_n   input_p   output_p ? or it should be output_n   input_n   output_p   input_p?

Thanks

Allen

  • Hi Allen,

Do you have any instructions about how to use this EB_run.sp?

We do not have any instructions available, I would recommend seeing if the TINA-TI has any instructions: https://www.ti.com/tool/TINA-TI

Which ports are input? which ports are output?

Ne and Fe likely mean near-end and far-end, so I would expect Ne to be the input and Fe to be the output. Keep in mind however that USB2 functionality is bidirectional, so it's could be that either can be input or output.

Is it acceptable if I implement another vendor’s IBIS model to be the driver or receiver?

If possible, I don't see why not.

By the way, that will be better if you can provide the model with IBIS version.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide an IBIS or S-param model for this device.

Customer would like to confirm that the correctness of the port definition.

    Did you meant to set the order as output_n   input_n   input_p   output_p ? or it should be output_n   input_n   output_p   input_p?

DP should match to DP, and DM should match to DM, so dp_ne should match with dp_fe, and vice versa.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
