SN65LVEP11 / Single ended input at the condition of Vcc =2.5V; Vee=0V

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVEP11

Hello,

In the data sheet of SN65LVEP11 data sheet  P.3 , there is "PECL DC CHARACTERISTICS (Vcc=2.5V, Vee=0.0V).
And there are VIH(single-ended) and VIL(single-ended).

However, there is "Single ended input clock pin operation is limited to VCC ≥ 3.0 V in PECL mode." in Note(4).
I think that there is discrepancy , becasue this is Vcc=2.5V characteristics , but single-ended opearation need Vcc>3.0V.

Could you please kindly let me know this reason ?

  • Hi Ryuji,

This note in the data sheet in stating that if a single ended clock input is going to be used that a VCC level of 3.3V is required.

I interpret the data sheet VIH (Single-ended) and VIL (Single-ended) levels as the measured max and min values for those pins in both VCC cases.

    Regards,

    Mike

  • Hello Mike san,

    Thank you for the reply.
And I'm sorry that I can't understand your information...
    Is below my understanding correct?

    (1) This device can not single-ended operate at the condition of Vcc=2.5V.
    (2) VIH and VIL spec in below picuture is not meaning of  Vcc=2.5V operation.
         This min/max value for 3.0V < Vcc<3.3V opearation.
Because, there is Vcc=3.3V DC characteristics separately.

  • In my opinnion it looks like a copy-paste typo, note (4) for 2.5V operation is not related at all to single ended but to differential.

  • Hello Mike san,

I understand that meaning of VIH and VIL single-ended finally.
    Sorry for bothering you.

If I will get new question I will post again.
    Thank you.
