DS32EV100 VDD capacitance

Hi,

In DS32EV100-EVK User Guide,

22uF electrolytic capacitor is connected to VDD pin.

However, the data sheet is described that (page7)

A 0.01uF bypass capacitor should be connected to each VDD pin...

Additionally, three capacitors with capacitance in the range of 2.2uF to 10uF should be ...

Would you need 22uF characteristically?

Our customer's board has little space for 22uF.

Best Regards,

  • Kato-San,

It is preferred if customer uses big value Cap(i.e 2.2uF, 10uF, or 22uF) and shunt across it a small value Cap(i.e 0.01uF) Can. Big Value Cap Attenuates low frequency noise while 0.01uF Cap attenuates higher frequency noise. What high value Cap should be used? This depends on the customer design and noise on their design or application. It is possible that 2.2uF, 4.7uF, or 10uF Cap with 0.01 Cap is good enough. This depends on the customer design application.

  • Nasser-San,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

I understood the necessity of a big value cap.

Our customer is considering what high value cap is appropriate.

I will advise them to evaluate noise resistance and so on.

    Best Regards,

    Kato
