ISO7640FM in 480 volt environments

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7640FM

Hello, we are developing a product that needs to touch 480VAC lines. The ISO7640FM was found with very high isolation ratings but noticed that the working voltage per datasheet Description is 400 volts RMS. Note; Datasheet Regulatory Approvals state 1414 volts pk-pk working voltage.

So is this part sufficient for our 480 volt AC working environment, or is there another part that would suit our needs?

Thank you,

~Bogdan

  • HI Bogdan,

It depends on the particular end equipment standard (for example, IEC 60950-1 or IEC 61010-1) that your product need to meet. You also need to specify whether Basic or Reinforced rating is required. Inherently, ISO7640FM can withstand working voltage of 480V AC without any problem but some of these standards have other limiations such as Creepage, pollution degree, Material Group, etc which can limit the voltages according to specific standards.

    Thanks,
    Saleem
