I just received an ISO5500EVM. I was planning to populate an IGBT and use it to switch up to 600VDC. It looks like there isn't enough clearance between the source and drain traces to support this voltage. The source is connected to the plane on the bottom of the board and there are many vias, including some in the drain tracks that have small (less than 10mil) annular rings.

Has anyone used this eval module with a significant voltage? If so, how high?

Hi George,The ISO5500 EVM can be operated upto 30V. Thanks
[ISO5500 EVM User's guide page 9: "EVM Warnings and Restrictions"
It is important to operate this EVM within the input voltage range of 3.3 V to 5 V and the output voltage range of 10 V to 30 V.]

The output side of the ISO5500 requires a DC voltage input that is limited to 30V. I understand that. But if you check the feature list in the description http://www.ti.com/tool/ISO5500EVM it says it can drive an igbt with Vce up to 1200V. That is the voltage that I was concerned about. Do you think that the ISO5500EVM can drive an igbt with a Vce of 1200V?

Hello George,
The feature list description refers to the ISO5500 device capability rather than the EVM’s capability. The EVM hast been designed and tested for operating upto 30V and not for high voltage operation. Thanks
