LMH0303 - Can you leave SMBus pins open(NC) when just used as PIN mode ?

Hi Team,

I would like to ask you if LMH0303 could be replaced from LMH0002 without any PCB layout change.

It seems that /RSTI, ENABLE, /FAULT, /RSTO are output pins and could be kept NC. However, I was wondering if SDA and SCL pins could be NC or not.

Is there any problem to leave SDA and SCL pins open when SMBus is not used ?

Hi Kawai-san,

The LMH0303 can replace the LMH0002 without PCB layout change.

The SDA/SCL pins are designed to be open drain. Normally, if operating in SMBus mode, you will need appropriate external pull-up resistors at these pins in order for the SMBus line to function correctly. However, if you use the LMH0303 in pin mode, the SDA/SCL lines can be left open without issue.
