SN65HVD78 VSON(8) package has a thermal pad. Should it be grounded or left float?

Hi Wenwei,

Either approach is OK. The pad is not electrically connected to the die; it is just present to aid in thermal conduction. We do recommend that it be connected to a copper plane on the PCB, though, and typically the ground plane is the most convenient choice.
