TUSB211 DxP connected with DxM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211, DXP

Dear all

My customer have two question about TUSB211.

The first one is that the datasheet shows the D1P and D1M should be connected with D2P and D2M respectively. They want to know why the high speed signal will not be bypassed by the trace between DxP and DxM. They are curious about the method to implement this.

They have another question, that is do they need to add more than one re-driver in a signal chain? What if they use two or more in the system? Such as one is placed near the core processor, another is placed nearby the USB device. Will this have better performance? Have you ever met such application? And do you have related testing data?

Thanks a lot.

George

  • Hello George,

Basically the TUSB211 detects HS signaling and improves the slew rate of the signal, and the use of two TUSB211 will improve the signal integrity by compensating the capacitive effect on both sides of the USB2 channel.

    Diego.

  • Hello George,

The TUSB211 is a USB2 signal conditioner, the device has patented detection circuitry at startup that determines if the bus speed is Low-Speed, Full-Speed or High-Speed and is activated only when the bus state is High-Speed.

There are additional detectors which determine the edge rate of the High-Speed signal and inject current when the edge rate is slow.

    Regards,
    Diego.
