Hi Team,

I have a customer using the K2G02 in their system and they have a question about ESD:

Sheet 18 of EVMK2G schematic shows two ESD devices, TPD6E001RSE(6 channels) and TPD2E001DRLR(single channel) for micro SD card. Can we just use one single TPD8E003(8 channels)?

Brian,

If you did then the VCC3V3_SD will not be protected.

Sorry I was vague when I posted that schematic snippet.

This was the TI EVM for the processor, showing the two ESD devices. It seems to make more sense to us just to use one 8 channel device instead. We thought this may have been done for a reason so we are checking to see if you guys have any comments. I'll shoot the processor guys a note as well.

I apologize for such a long delay.
Using the TPD8E003 would not be be the best idea if there are high speed signals. The IO capacitance of 9pF it pretty high compared to the TPD2E001 and TPD6E001 of 1.5pF.

The Hardware team for the K2G EVM/ref designs seemed to think it would be ok, but I understand that you are risking signal integrity by going with the higher capacitance part.
