SN65HVD78: Receiver propagation delay time - variation between parts

Part Number: SN65HVD78

Hello,

For synchronized signals (10Mbits/s), 4 drivers SN65HVD78 are used (receiver only). These drivers have the same operating conditions. Which variation of "Receiver propagation delay time" between SN65HVD78 should be considered?

  • Hi Yann,

There is not a part to part skew spec for the SN65HVD78 because we do not see use cases in RS-485 like we do in LVDS or other differential signaling technologies that send clocks or lane dependent data (i.e. HDMI – 3 data lanes and a clock).

However we can use the receiver propagation delay characterization data to get a rough idea of what the part to part skew is. Looking at the characterization data at a 3.3V nominal voltage level and worst case 125C temperature we can expect a conservative part to part skew to be in the range of 5-10ns. The data was taken across a standard characterization lot of 30 units. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will be glad to help.
  • Hi Michael,

    Thank you for your help!
