SN65DP149: SN65DP149 medical application and drivers

Part Number: SN65DP149
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DP159

1.Is SN65DP149/159 suitable for medical application(non-life threatening)

its an image processing applicaiton.

2.Are the drivers for windows 7 or windows compact embedded available to initialise SN65DP149/159 on I2C/SMbus

  • Hello,
I have forwarded your question to the Product Team.
If you want to configure the Registers in the DP149, you have to use a I2C Master.

  • Hi Bhavesh,

DP159 deals with electrical signals of DP++/HDMI, it interacts with GPU and display. if the power supply is well isolated it's operation won't affect other circuits.

DP159 can be used in GPIO mode without the need of I2C configuration.
Regarding SMB access, you should contact the OS provider.

its an image processing applicaiton. we will be taking input video from a medical device and image processing it

  • Hi Bhavesh,

    1. DP159 deals with electrical signals of DP++/HDMI, it interacts with GPU and display. if the power supply is well isolated it's operation won't affect other circuits. If the board is carefully designed DP159 won't interact with other signals being taken from the body.

    2. We don't provide a solution to configure DP159, the customers program their own procedures. DP159 can be used in GPIO mode without the need of I2C configuration. Regarding SMB access, you should contact the OS provider.

  • Dear Sir
I had received reply for SN65DP159 in first post. I inquired if the same holds true for DP149

  • Hi Bhavesh,

DP159 and DP149 have the same behavior, the difference is the data rate they support.

DP159 is intended for HDMI2.0, it supports data rates up to 6Gbps.

DP149 is intended for HDMI1.4, it supports data rates up to 3.4Gbps.

Functionality is the same and they are present in two temperature ranges. They are pin to pin compatible with the only difference being the supported data rate.

A well-designed board can work for both of them and the same I2C driver will work for the two devices.

The answers will be the same for both devices.

Both devices deal with electrical signals of DP++/HDMI, they interact with GPU and display. if the power supply is well isolated their operation won't affect other circuits. If the board is carefully designed these devices won't interact with other signals being taken from the body.

We don't provide a solution to configure these devices by I2C, the customers program their own procedures. Both devices can be used in GPIO mode without the need of I2C configuration. Regarding SMB access, you should contact the OS provider.
