SN65HVD35: about SN65HVD35 driver voltage

Part Number: SN65HVD35

Hi dear supporting team,

how about the VOH and Vol threshold for Y,Z pins? tks!

  • Hi Vera,

Figure 6 shows the Output Voltage based of Y/Z on the Output current. If you know your terminating load's impedance, you should be able to determine the VOH/VOL for Y,Z pins.

  • Hi Matt,

    thank you for the reply!

if customer use it in this way:;connect A,Y with B &Z ,  so if the driver is high levl, then the receiver is high, vice verse, right? (DE high, RE low).

and when customer is using this chip, they found one issue:  when they use their machine communicate with collector through 485 interface, they found the collector 485 signal will be pulled to 0.2V when in high level voltage, and low level is normal.  while when the machine use SN65HVD35D output signal will be a normal one, so they want to know what's the possible cause for such issue?

the plot is as below, rectangular block shows the DIFF signal send from collector to SN65HVD35D, it will fall to 0.2V at high level.   red circle is te reply signal from 65hvd35d,  it is normal,  do you have any suggestion? (I am still waiting for the sch).

  • their sch is as below:

they use 3 360 Ohm resistor in parallel for termination, they will will find when the switch is switched to 1, the signal received at A&B will has above issue, when the switch  is put to 3, the waveform is normal. and also, if customer disconnect HD35 to the link, the other side TX signal will also be normal.   so what do you think will be the root cause? ( the other side is connected with another vendor's 485 chip)tks!

  • Hi Vera,

This issue seems to be coming from the other 485 part. Do you have any details about that part? The 0.2 V drop down seems to look like auto direction control. The other 485 part might not be designed to work with a 120 Ohm termination. One solution would be to decrease the pull up/down resistors to make the drop down voltage closer to the high state.
