2:1 Mux solution for SD/HD/3G SDI Interface

Hi,

Can you suggest me the best possible solution w.r.t. cost and area for a 2:1 Mux for SD/HD/3G-SDI interface?

FYI, the 2 input SDI signals are provided from an external source over a BNC connector and output SDI signal is connected to an SDI receiver on board.

I see that LMH0356 (Mux) along with LMH0344 (Equalizer) meets the above requirements.

Is there any other recommended solution to save on cost and area based on above requirements? Can a 2:1 LVDS Mux be used instead of LMH0356? If yes, please suggest a suitable device.

  • Hi Raja,

    For a 2:1 mux, I recommend trying a combination of 2 x LMH0324 cable EQs and 1 x LMH0318 cable driver.

    - The LMH0324 is a newly released 3G-SDI equalizer and achieves better cable reach performance than the previous generation LMH0344.

    - The LMH0318 features a 2:1 mux at the input. Afterwards, the signal enters an integrated reclocker that goes to the cable driver.
