DS100KR800: DS100KR800

Part Number: DS100KR800
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125BR820,

DS100KR800 be used at SMBus slave mode. But the customer config the reg about EQ and VOD. it seems no effect. The eye diagram is also very  bad? There are some notes to  use it? by the way Customer use DS125BR820 fist. just the VOD do not have gain.

  • Hi Lei,

In most 10G-KR applications the DS125BR820 will work better with the link training algorithm.  The linear behavior tends to give the 10G-KR receiver a better understanding of AGC/VGA/CTLE/DFE settings that will result in an optimal eye opening.

The DS100KR800 does have more gain and CTLE boost.  It is best to start with lower settings to see how the system will react.

In order to "enable" the SMBus, Register 0x06 should be written with the value 0x18.  Without this operation, changes made to the registers will not be transferred to the analog circuits.

    Initial recommendations

    Register           Value

    0x06                 18'h

    0x0F                 01'h

    0x10                 AB'h

    0x11                 00'h

Repeat these settings for all eight channels.

Do you have a block diagram of the 10G-KR channel showing the attenuation of each channel segment?  With this information I can make additional recommendations.

    Regards,

    Lee

  • Hi lee. the reg all be writed. but it not ok? and we find it can work at limited mode. But the Jitter is noticeable.
  • Hi Lei,

Based on the channel length and attenuation of the 10G-KR link, you can try to increase the equalization setting of the DS125BR820.  I would try to increase it to 0x03 from the 0x01 setting to see how the results are changed.

    Regards,

    Lee
