Team,

My customer want to use FPGA to connect to LCD(RGB666), is below solution ok for customer to use?

They use DS90LV047A and DS90CR216A here as showed above, the signal between FPGA and DS90LV047A is 4 wire LVTTL, the signal between DS90LV047A and DS90CR216A is 4 wire differential, then the serial signal was converted to parallel signal sent to LCD(RGB666).

Why customer don't use differential signal between FPGA and DS90LV047A is because they need 2.5V supply, the number of IO is not enough, so they use LVTTL signal here. So below are support need:

1. If above solution ok for customer to use?

2. If not, why and any other solution for customer to use here?

Hi Sulyn,

Is it 3 data + 1 clock in 4 wires signal? What is your LCD spec? If the LCD is meeting with your spec requirement, this solution is doable.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the support! The LCD customer used is 24bit but customer only need 18 bit because they don't need such high accuracy and color, below is the datasheet of the LCD for your check. Is this solution can meet their requirement? Thanks.

What is the Fclk frequency at 18 bit RGB mode for 320RGB x 240?

DS90CR216A is supported from 20 to 66MHz. The LCD spec doesn't say the Fclk at 18 bit mode.

Thanks for the important point, just checked with customer, the FCLK is about 6.5MHz showed as below table, so do we have recommended solutions for this application? Thanks a lot!

Hi Sulyn,

We don't have a solution that can support 6.5MHz yet.

Are you considering to use 8 Bit RGB Mode for 320RGB x 240? The fclk is 27MHz.

Also have you looked into DS90CR218A? The min fclk is 12MHz instead of 20MHz.

Most importantly, FPGA usually outputs LVDS signals, what is your FPGA?

If it is 4 wire LVTTL output, does it support the 7 bit serialization scheme from DS90CR216A?
