    Hello Danny,

    Are you using the TCA6416 or the TCA6416A?  Use the TCA6416A because the non-A version is NRND.  

    I am not sure about your question.  You really should try and be as specific as possible when posting a question to E2E.

    I believe you are asking what the default state of the TCA6416A after it is powered on.  This is covered in the datasheet on page 21, see below:

    Generally speaking you configure your output ports and polarity registers to the desired state then write to the Configuration register to implement your desired port configuration.
