Hi

I have question of AC coupling in LVDS to LVDS solution.

We want to extend transfer distance from driver to receiver using 10m cable.
According to page 6 of DS90LT012AQ datasheet, 10M distance can be acceptable with twisted pair cable generally.

"For cable distances < 0.5M, most cables can be made to work effectively. For distances 0.5M ≤ d ≤ 10M, CAT 3
(category 3) twisted pair cable works well, is readily available and relatively inexpensive"

Now assuming following figure.


1. If automotive application is assumed, is it better choice of STP cable?
What kind of cable type is recommended?

2. Could it be functional without any termination?
For example, following application report offers 100ohm termination in LVDS to LVDS.

Is that 100ohm terminatin needed?

    For automotive application, we recommend to use automotive grade cables such as HSD, USCAR-30, and FAKRA cables. They have superior performance over STP cable in terms of Signal Integrity, Jitter, and EMI.

    The LVDS receiver, DS90LT012AQ has integrated termination resistor at the input of device. There is no need to design external RT on the system.
