TUSB319EVM: UP TO DATE information / schematics / correct use ?

Part Number: TUSB319EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320EVM, TUSB422

We are trying to solve a situation where we have a phone as a host, but need to charge it at the same time.  I did some digging and I believe the TUSB319 would work for this?  Am I correct?

If so, we purchased the TUSB319EVM to test this out, however, what little information exists, seems to be incorrect and incomplete. I can find no reference schematic on your site.  The 'quick start guide mentions LEDs D2, D3, D4, but the picture (and board on my desk) have LEDs D4, D5, D6 ?  So which is it?   Also as a suggestion, use an arrow to indicate position of a switch.  Your bad photos do me no good (see Figure 3 of your slu259.pdf to see what I mean).

Is there anything other than this 'quick user guide' that explains what all the test points are for and do?

If the TUSB319 is indeed not the chip for the job at hand, then would you have a suggestion of what to use?  We initially tried a TUSB320EVM, but had no luck with that either.

Thanks.

  • Hi Kip,

The TUSB319 does not meet your requirements. Since your application requires a device that supports power delivery, hence, please take a look into the TUSB422 USB Type-C Port Controller with PD. Using this device the application is feasible, even if you do not want a high profile current, you could set the current profile of 5V, 5A (PD supports up to 20V, 5A), the devices that will be connected must be Type-C power delivery compliant to perform the PD power role swap.
On the other hand we will submit the changes in the TUSB319EVM documentation to clarify it. Thanks for the catch.
