TPS65986: commercially available chargers to test with for certain conditions

Part Number: TPS65986

We've been acquiring various commercially available chargers to test with TPS65986, but having problems finding a devices to test some of the cases we'd like.  Do you know of any devices TI tests with, which would allow us to test the following:

- Power source which has a variable type PDO

- Power source which has a battery type PDO

- Power source which has multiple USB-C ports which adjusts power available to each sink based on how many sinks are attached.  For example, a charger which has 2 USB C ports which may provided 20v/3A if one device attached, but drops to something like 20v/1.5A if 2 devices are attached.  We had found a dual-port 22.5w charger from Google, but that appears to have a fixed power limit based on the port itself.

  • Hi Eric,

I personally have not seen a power source with a variable or battery source PDO. All of the power adapters that I have seen in the market today use Fixed Source PDOs.

For a Power Source that varies the power based on what is connected you can look at any 2 port thunderbolt dock that follows the Apex Creek CH reference design.

    Thank you,

    Eric
