ISO35T: Regarding 5V-tolerance

In the datasheet for ISO35T, one of the features states "Logic Inputs are 5V-Tolerant". However in the same datasheet the recommended operating conditions state that max supply voltage, Vcc is 3.6V and max voltage on logic inputs are "Vcc". Does this mean that it's possible to use it with 5V-logic but that you do not recommend it? In that case what is the detriments of using it with 5V-logic? Further: If there is no major liability then do you recommend using 3.3V or 5V as supply voltage for the IC (if we use 5V on logic inputs)?

    Thank you for using E2E Forum.
    The recommended voltage for VCC of ISO35T is 3.15V to 3.6V and the inputs should also be maintained under VCC for normal operation. 5V tolerant input means that the inputs can withstand 5V if 5V is applied on inputs accidentally, the device doens't get damage. Under this condition, the device might not operate normal and the device performance specified in datasheet might not be met but the device will be undamaged. Please note that this applies only to 3.3V input pins (D, DE\, RE\). Thanks.
