TPS25740EVM-741: Asking about Vin of LM5175 IC in USB Type C moduel

Part Number: TPS25740EVM-741

Dear TI's experts,

I have a question about LM5175 IC.

I want to devenlope a module USB type C PD can change Vout value as model TPS25740EVM-741.

But Power supply from my SMPS only 5V-3A, I do not know that if I supply 5V to Vin of LM5175 IC for module TPS25740EVM-741.

Is it ok? Which item I have to change to respond this require?

Hope to recieve your help!

Thank you very much!

  • Hello Nguyen,

I'm a little confused on your question. Are you asking that if you supply 5V at 3A to the LM5175, will it operate similar to the TPS25740EVM?
  • Dear Mr. Adam,

    Yes, it is.

    This is my mean.

    Can you support me.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hi Nguyen,

Looking through the datasheet, I do not think this part will work for a Type-C PD application. Yes, it will be able convert a 5V input into a 20V output. It will not be able to source the necessary current (5A) amount that is needed for PD applications. However, I could be wrong on this so I would close this thread, and ask the team that is responsible for the LM5175. I am an expert on the TPS25740B, but not this buck-boost.

In your title, I would post something along the lines of "LM5175: 5V to 20V with 5A load". This will assign it to the experts for that specific part, and they could give you a definite answer.
