Hello experts in the group,

We are using TPL7407L to drive loads. My question is on the low side of the chip. In the spec of TPL7407, it says "TPL7407L input interface is specified for standard 1.8 V through 5 V CMOS logic interface and can tolerate up to 30 V.". Does this mean that I can use 24V or 30V to drive the input directly in my applications?

If not, how can I use resistors to drop sown the voltage for the inputs? I tried this but it appeared that any resistor I put between the 24V signal and the TPL7407L input caused a tortured input signal form.

Can anyone give me some quick direction on this? It will be much appreciated.

Hi Lei,

The abs max rating for the input pins on the TPL7407L is 30V. If the 24V rail you have will not exceed 30V, then it is okay to use this voltage to control the TPL7407L directly. A resistor divider should work as well, so I'm surprised that you get odd behavior. Could you explain what you mean by "tortured input signal form"?

Thank you for your instant reply.

I have a 12.5KHz square waveform signal(24V) goes into the TPL7407L. When I use resistors (between the 12.5KHz signal and the input of TPL7407L) to drop down the voltage to 1.8~5V, the square waveform are deformed. The TLP7507L sepc says there is snubber in the input circuit, is this something can cause the deformation?

Hi Lei,

This could be the case, but to be sure, have you tried applying the 24V wave directly to the input? Is there any deformation in this case?

Hi Alek,

There is no deformation when I tied 24V or 10V wave directly to the input.

I will use 10V directly onto the input.
