TUSB2046I: PWRON signal

Hello,

I have a question for TUSB2046.

Now assuming both TUSB2046 and down stream devices are put on the same board. And all these devices are self-powered.

These down stream devices want to know whether TUSB2046 up stream side is connected or not.

At first, I considered connecting up stream VBUS signal to down stream devices to realize it.

But this VBUS to each devices wiring is a little bit bothersome.

Then I’m considering to use PWRONx signal instead of wiring upstream VBUS.

So my question is that can PWRON signal be used to know whether up stream is connected or not?

Regards,

Oba

  • Oba,

PWRONx pins would only be toggled by host when downstream port power is enabled not when the upstream connection is made. Another option could be the SUSPND pin signal to indicate upstream connection. In the USB spec for USB hubs suspend is defined as no data traffic upstream or downstream. So the SUSPND pin does not only reflect Upstream but also Downstream traffic.
