Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83640, DP83630,
So I've got two of the DP83630 development kits (actually one board has a DP83630 installed and the other has a DP83640 installed, however, both work!).
I've been able to configure the boards through the registers (nice interface!) and have seen that the 250 MHz clocks DO stay in sync!
The two dev boards are conected to the same Netgear switch using standard Ethernet RJ-45 connections. When I snoop the traffic through the switch, I'm NOT seeing ANY PTP packets generated.
My question is HOW can I generate PTP packets so that I CAN see them in Wireshark. FWIW, I've connected a Perle switch that also has support for IEEE 1588 PTP packets and have verified that PTP packets can be sniffed by Wireshark once that feature is enabled on the Perle switch.
I've looked at every register on the National Semi Analog LaunchPAD software (Release 1.26.0002) and still haven't been able to generate any PTP packets.
We're looking to add this PHY to our next generation products, however, we need to see that it does in fact, generate (and use) L2 and L3 PTP packets.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
