ISO7821LLS: Distortion correction

Part Number: ISO7821LLS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7821LL

Hello,

I would like you to confirm about below.

* I would like to make sure detail of Distortion correction function which have ISO7821LLS.

From viewpoint of block diagram, I understood that difference b/w ISO7821LLS and ISO7821LL is below.

 - ISO7821LLS have "Distortion Correction" function.

According to datasheet of ISO7821LLS, LVDS input data is NOT output immediately due to this function when this device is changed IDLE to ACTIVE.

On the other hand, ISO7821LL do NOT have "Distortion Correction" function.

So, I understand that LVDS input data will be output immediately even though this device is in IDLE state.

 The question is

Could you please tell me why only ISO7821LLS have "Distortion correction" function ?

I understand that LVDS need DC-Balance. So why only LLS have this calibration function.

Best Regards,

  • Ryuuichi,

Not all systems with LVDS need DC-balancing so that is why there is a device without the distortion correction. Generally only those that use AC coupling in the differential signal lines need to be DC-Balanced. Pages 32 to 34 of the linked document below have some good information on DC-balancing and AC coupling for LVDS.
