SN65HVD255DEVM: SN65HVD255DEVM co;pqtible with SN65HVDA100-Q1 ?

Part Number: SN65HVD255DEVM

Hello,

Does the SN65HVD255D Evaluation Module can work with a SN65HVDA100-Q1 instead?

If not what dev board would you recommend to evaluate LIN with a AM335X?

Thanks.

  • Hi Leo,

SN65HVDA100-Q1 would fit on that EVM, but the pinout differences between a LIN transceiver and a CAN transceiver (for which that EVM was designed) may make it difficult to use. A closer match would be this EVM:

Please let me know if you have any questions on it.

  • Hi Max,
    Very useful answer, thanks!
It brings a new question : I was considering SN65HVDA100-Q1 but TLIN2029-Q1 seems to be more appropriate (and effortless with this EVM). Why would I choose SN65HVDA100-Q1 over TLIN2029-Q1.
I read that the TLIN2029-Q1 has a wider compatibility range, a wider power supply range, a smaller pricing. The only addition would be the WAKE and INH pin that would be relevant for low power design.
Am I missing something here ?
    Thanks
  • Leo,

No, you are right. If you don't need the INH and WAKE functions that are absent in TLIN2029-Q1, it is an overall better device for new designs than SN65HVDA100-Q1. It is a more recent device, and so it benefits from several years of process improvements and design optimizations over the previous-generation LIN offerings. Note that depending on your application requirements TLIN1029-Q1 may be another device to consider as well - it is similar in electrical performance but rated to a lower voltage range (and priced accordingly).
