Part Number: SN65HVD256
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVD234-Q1, TCAN332, TCAN1051

hi,

I want to know ,if i use the sn65hvd256 in 3.3v system, could i connect the Vcc and Vrxd all  to 3.3v power supply? or do i need connect two power supply rail, vcc connect to 5v, Vrxd connect to 3.3v?

in addition , in non-isolated system ,what is our hero CAN device ?

  • Hello,

Yes, you will need to supply the SN65HVD256 with both 5 V and 3.3 V. If 3.3 VCC is needed, you may want to consider SN65HVD234-Q1 or TCAN332 (for non-Q1 applications).

In general, for 5-V-powered transceivers I would recommend the TCAN1042/TCAN1051 device family. They are newer devices that make several improvements over the older SN65HVD25x family while maintaining footprint compatibility. If you have any questions on them please let me know.

    Regards,
    Max
