high speed CAN eval. or demo board for communication with automotive radar sensor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1042DEVM, TIDA-01429, TCAN1042-Q1

Dear gents,

looking for CAN interface development/eval. board for automotive radars samples that can send and read out values from commercial samples of radars like the one in attachment from BOSCH describing communication protocol.

CAN Baud rate: 500 kBaud or 1 MBaud and

CAN update rate of Sensor: 50 Hz

Can you suggest simple eval. or dev. board to make CAN communication readouts based on linked document (section 1.4)?

Thanks forward for your help.

  • Martin, hello and thank you for your interest in Texas Instruments. We have received your inquiry and are actively evaluating what solutions we may have from our product lines and system engineering teams that might possibly fit your needs. We will continue working your query internally and will be sure to provide you with a more definitive answer by close of business tomorrow.

  • Hi Martin,

You could interface the CANH and CANL lines of this sensor to the TCAN1042DEVM, which would implement a CAN PHY function in converting these CAN bus signals to/from logic-level signals (TXD and RXD ports). These could then be connected to an MCU implementing a CAN controller which could interpret the data of the CAN frames.

An example implementation of a CAN port using the TCAN1042-Q1 device and a C2000 MCU is given in TIDA-01429:

Although the PCBs are unfortunately not available for purchase, this may serve as a useful design reference.

I hope this helps - let me know if you have other questions.

    Regards,
    Max
