DS100KR800: RESET issue

Part Number: DS100KR800
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS125BR820

On our design, DS100KR800 is used with SMBUS enabled. (ENSMB is pulled up with a resistor)

So I want to understand whether the RESET pin will have any effect on the device.

The datasheet says when RESET is ‘high’ the device will be in low power mode.

The datasheet also says that when ENSMB is pulled high, the Registers will retain their current state even if RESET is asserted.

When we assert the RESET signal on our design, we see that the SMBus interface is still operational and the device responds to SMBus access. So we want to know what is meant by “Low power mode”. How do we check that the device is in low power mode or not?

Please let us know.

  • Hi Dilip,

On a benchtop board setup we just look at the device power consumption to verify the low power.  In a system it will be difficult to check.

For low power the device will meet the following specification.  This is from another device DS125BR820 which uses the same circuitry.

Power Down Current Consumption (RESET = 1)      Typical 14mA         Maximum  27mA

    Regards,
