TVP7002: when TVP7002 start up, the +1.9V_AVDD and +3.3V_AVDD will have big ripple

Part Number: TVP7002

Hi team,

My customer is using the TVP7002 now. when the device start up, the +1.9V_AVDD and +3.3V_AVDD will have big ripple. we have changed the cap and magnetic bead, doesn't help. When finish starting, it's fine. Could you please help check the reason and how to improve it? Thanks.

  • Hi,

This could be due to poor PCB layout of the power supply traces. Surge currents at startup time can be quite big, causing a voltage drop if the traces are too thin. As an experiment I would suggest you duplicate the power traces with pieces of wire, if this is possible on your PCB.
  • I also suggest checking the ripple at the power supply output to make sure that the power supply itself is capable of sourcing the necessary current.

When making measurements it is also important to make sure that the ground connection for the measurement is close to the point being measured. e.g. if measuring the TVP then the ground should be close to the TVP etc...

    BR,
