TLK105L: AM437x and TLK105L, which Bob Smith Termination to use?

Part Number: TLK105L

Hello team,

I'm working on a project based on the AM437x which has the EtherCAT interface and supports also EtherCAT-P which in our case is implemented by using two PHY TLK105L.

I would like to know:

- Which Bob Smith configuration do you suggest?

-Is it possible to use only one Bob Smith termination that I can use with both applications, either EtherCAT or EhterCAT-P?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

The Bob Smith termination is largely unchanged since it was developed. I am not aware of a difference in the termination based on EtherCAT or -P. I would recommend using the 75ohm and 4.7nF bypass cap used on the AM series industrial development kits that host the TLK105L.

    Best Regards,
