Part Number: DS3695A

I need to transmit and receive at the same time so I can verify the transmitted data is valid.  The specification only indicates receiving when DE = 0 and RE = 0.  I would like to have DE = 1 and RE = 0 so I can receive and transmit at the same time.  Is this valid

    Hello George,

    Yes, it is OK to have both the driver and receiver active simultaneously. This would allow you to check that the received signal on the bus matches the transmitted signal on the "DI" input. Like with any "half-duplex" bus, you would still need to make sure that only one driver circuit is enabled on the bus at any given time to avoid contention between transceivers.
