SN75189A: 3.3V operation with SN75189A

Part Number: SN75189A

Can the 1489As be run off of 3.3V power supply?

The data sheet schematic seems to look like it can but data sheet lists the range as 4.5-5.5V. Ifit can do the input levels trigger levels scale? Output level change?

Thanks for your feedback,

  • Jason,

The device may still function with 3.3V supply, but some spec will be violated. The input threshold can be adjusted by a resistor and bias voltage on the Response Control pin, which basically change the internal reference voltage of the comparator. The output is close to rail to rail, which is governed by the supply.
