DS100BR210: What is the function of LOS?

Dear Team,

Could you provide more details of LOS pin? I don't know what is the function and purpose of this pin.

And how to use LOS pin?

Please help to let me know when should I use this pin.

Hi Jim,

The LOS pin is a "Loss Of Signal" indication. The default setting for this pin is to monitor the Channel A input.

The LOS pin is open drain and requires a resistor pull up to achieve a VOH.

With a signal the output will pull low.

With no signal the output will go hi-z and allow the resistor to pull up the voltage on LOS.

Could I leave it floating? What kind of scenario that we will use this LOS pin?

Hi Jim,

Yes, it is an output so it is okay to leave the pin floating.

This pin has been used in SFP+ and QSFP applications
