DS3695A: DS3695AM/NOPB Data Rate

Part Number: DS3695A

Hi,

I couldn't find information on the data rate of the part DS3695AM/NOPB. Could you please let me know what it is? Thanks

DS3695AM/NOPB
  • Hello Kian,

For these simple buffer devices, the maximum data rate is limited primarily by the rise/fall times of the output drivers. A general rule of thumb is for the transition times to be less than 1/3 of the overall bit period in order to allow for some time for each bit to be stable at a steady-state value (so it can be properly sampled by a receiving system). When performing the calculation, I recommend keeping in mind the maximum transition times in order to account for worst-case possible variation.

The DS3695A is a good device, but is a bit old and there have been some improvements in our technology since its release. You might want to consider a newer part like THVD1550. It is a pin-for-pin functional equivalent but can work over a wider VCC/temperature range and implements a high degree of protection against application stresses such as ESD strikes to the RS-485 bus.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards,
    Max
