Hi team,

My customer is using SN65HVD1796 in their design, signal rating at least 5MHz. Could you use SN65HVD485E directly replace SN65HVD1796? 

Are these two PIN TO PIN replacable?

    SN65HVD485E can replace SN65HVD1796 speed wise. But the pin out and fault voltage are different. Pin2 in SN65HVD485E is REB (RX enable), while that pin is INV (polarity control) in SN65HVD1796. Please let me know if you have more questions.
