TCAN1051-Q1: TCAN1051-Q1 Influence of humidity

Part Number: TCAN1051-Q1

Dear support team

My customer use TCAN1051-Q1 and  they confirm behavior that CANH/L output is 0V at 85 deg /85% humidity.

Is there any mode that CANH/L output is 0V other than dominant and recessive?

  • Hi Nagasawa-san,

Is your customer testing out a single TCAN1051-Q1 device?  Or is this a test of a multiple-node CAN bus?

If there are multiple nodes in the system, then there could be a ground shift in the system, and the recessive level could output at 0V, relative to one of the nodes.

However, as a single device, the TCAN1051-Q1 is not meant to output 0V onto the CAN bus unless there is a fault condition like a bus short or an undervoltage event on VCC.  The humidity and temperature constraints that you have listed are within the normal operating conditions of the TCAN1051-Q1.

Could you provide any more information about the test setup, along with CANH and CANL waveforms?

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Nagasawa-san,

Have you been able to close this issue?  If not, have you had a chance to review Max Megee's comments above?  Additionally, can you please verify that the IC is powered for this test and that the impedance of the measurement probes is high (1+ MOhm)?

    Regards,
    Max

  • Hello Max-san

    Sorry for delay response.

Customers are suspecting other factors such as cables now.

I'm going to feed back the contents from you if they need to investigate the IC.

    Regards
