DS100RT410: XFI or 10G-KR with re-timer

Part Number: DS100RT410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100DF410

Hello,

I have two questions,

1) does the TI have 10G Re-timer for 10G-KR to SFP+ optics module,

2)if no re-timer for the 10G-KR solution, does TI suggest and confidence to use XFI to pass signal over the high-speed connector

a) CPU(10G-KR) <-->high speed connector<--> Re-timer<-->SFP+ sptics module

b) CPU(XFI) <-->high speed connector<--> Re-timer <--> SFP+ optics module

Thanks

  • Hi Scan,

    The TI DS100RT410 is suitable and widely used for 10G SFP+ optical applications. The DS100RT410 can be readily used for XFI port side optical applications as well.

    The DS100RT410 Rx equalization can compensate for worst case channel insertion loss required by the 10G KR standard specification. For additional margin the customer may also consider the DS100DF410, which implements DFE in addition to CTLE.The TI retimer however does not implement the optional KR link training function.

  • Hi Rodrigo,

    Can we use RT410/DF410 on this topology?

    NXP PHY —-(XFI)——RT410—-(SFI)——SFP+

    or

    NXP PHY —-(XFI)——DF410—-(SFI)——SFP+

    we are concerning this topology cannot be linked well as I was informed by NXP AE that has the protocol difference between XFI and SFI even through genernal retimer/repeater.

    Thanks

    Leo

  • Hi,

    TI expects no issue with either of these two configurations. TI has tested our 10G retimers Tx and Rx performance relative to the channel and jitter requirements set forth in the SFF XFP specification and observed good performance.

  • Thanks  Rodrigo, no problem to me.
