Hi,

The default value of Configuration registers is set as INPUT for all of pins.

During power on reset and fix the polarity with I2C, the pins are OPEN. so, should user pull up or pull down to the pins?

    Hey Nagata-san,

    I wrote this FAQ a while back discussing IO expanders:

    It doesn't really matter if you use pull up versus a pull down, as long as you use one it will be fine. As a general suggestion, a 4.7k pull up resistor should be fine.
