TUSB8040A1: port numbering issue

Part Number: TUSB8040A1

Hi,

I am using several  TUSB8040A1 in my design, the connection is as follows:

One main TUSB8040A1 and two additional TUSB8040A1 the are connected to ports 0 and 3 on the root HUB.

When a board is connected to PC, devices are recognized as connected to ports 3 and 0.

On one of the boards, the devices are recognized as connected to ports 3 and 2.

What can be the issue? is there any internal EEPROM that can be corrupted?

  • Hello Alexander,

The port numbering could change if certain ports were marked as unused.  Can you provide the port connection report if it is in Windows or Linux?

    Regards,

    JMMN

  • Hi JMMN

the report is from windows 10.

what you can see in the image is a good board with a camera connected to Port 17 on the PC, port 3 on the first TUSB8040A1 Hub and port 3 on the last TUSB4080A1 hub.

On the corrupt board, Camera/Device was connected to port 2 on the first hub instead of port 3,

Currently, I was unable to reproduce the problem. the hub is working right

but I am afraid this issue will appear again.

    Thanks,

    Alexander

  • Hello Alexander,

This is very strange behavior, the hub ports are hardcoded.  Can you run a reboot cycle test to see if the problem re-occurs?

We have never seen an incorrectly reported port number with the USB hubs.
