My name is Amos and I work for Hermon Laboratories.

I need to develop a tester for Type-C power supplies/chargers manufactured by many different manufacturers (Samsung, Pixel, Philips ...)

Can you recommend on solution for evaluation of the Type-C PS/chargers?

(Set the PS to provide maximum voltage, maximum current and connect to external loads)

I need this tool to be used in production area and therefore it should be very simple for operation and without the need to develop
a special software.

I found your TPS65982-EVM and wander if this is a good answer for my purposes.

Please advise,

Hi Amos,

Please refer to TIDA-050014. I think that TI-Design can be used to closer fit your needs. The TPS65982EVM would not work with all adapters at all voltages.

Hi Eric,

I have further question regarding the cable to be used.

As I understand, many kinds of cables are used for Type-C PD, in order to work with different manufacturers.

Can you please recommend on a certain Type-C PD cable which can be used for all (or most) chargers manufacturers?

Hi Amos,

Any standard USB-C cable should be fine with most adapters. I would recommend checking the details of the adapters if you have any specific questions on those.

Is it necessary to use a USB-C with E-Marker Chip cable ?

Hi Amos,

The TPS65987D does not require an E-Marked cable to operate.
