ESD122: ESD122

Part Number: ESD122

As per the datasheet you have already mentioned that this part is suitable for PCIe interface. But you are not provided any reference diagrams for PCIe application. what are the key points to be considered while providing ESD protection to PCIe using ESD122. and also give other best alternatives for ESD protection for PCIe.

  • Hi  Krishnadevan P,

Thanks for the questions. Typically, the key points of consideration are the voltage level and the capacitance of the ESD122

Capacitance - ESD122 is a low capacitance device and is used in applications with up to 10Gbps (per line) B/W requirement so this means it is well suited to provide enough bandwidth to a single signal line on the PCIe. The insertion loss diagram is provided in the datasheet Some alternate low capacitance devices are 1 channel - TPD1E01B04 & 4 channel TPD4E02B04

Voltage Level (Vrwm- Working Voltage)  - the ESD122 has a max working voltage of 3.6V so this also works well for the PCIe

For more details about these two items please see our resource page about interface protection and please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions.
