SN65LBC179: Multipoint Data Transmission

Part Number: SN65LBC179

Hi,

It is described that "Multipoint Data Transmission" on the datasheet.

However, this device doesn't have output hi-z mode.

How can we construct "multipoint data transmission"?

Best Regards,

Kuramochi

  • Hello Kuramochi-san,

This device could be used as a "master" node in a multi-point full-duplex bus.  It could use the Y/Z output pair to broadcast messages downstream to multiple slave nodes, and use the A/B input pair to receive data back from those slaves.  The transceiver used on the slave nodes in this case would need to have the ability to enter the high-Z state in order to avoid bus contention on the upstream data path.  Please let me know if that isn't clear to you or if you have any further questions.

    Regards,
    Max Robertson
