TCAN334: Wake detect process

Part Number: TCAN334

Hello,

We’re working with the TCAN334 device and we have a question about the wake detect process.

The datasheet for that part states that it utilizes the wake-up pattern from ISO11898-5:2007. Our understanding of that standard wake up pattern is that it simply requires a dominant bit for > Twake to trigger a wake event.

However, the data sheet goes on to describe a wake pattern that requires multiple filtered Dominant bus periods each separated by a filtered Recessive bus period. This seems to more closely resemble ISO11898-2:2016.

Could you please clarify this?  Thank you, Keith

  • Hi Keith,

That's a good catch.  TCAN334 uses the WUP detection mechanism that was introduced in ISO 11898-2:2016.  The second paragraph of Section 10.4.5 should instead read:

"This device uses the multiple filtered dominant wake-up pattern (WUP) from ISO11898-2 to qualify bus traffic into a request to wake the host microprocessor."

    Thanks for pointing this out.

    Regards,
    Max
