TUSB1042I: TEST1 pin connection

Part Number: TUSB1042I

Hi,

PLease confirm if it's necessary to connect TEST1 to GND.  It's specified in datasheet to short it to GND, but this is not implemented in TUSB1042 EVM schematics.  Please clarified the impact if this pin is floating.  We currently have an issue that the USB function at this type-c port is workable only for the case when FLIP is high, but not workable for the case when FLIP is '0'.  We need to make sure if it's because TEST1 is not conencted to GND.

Thanks.

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

Have you tried both orientations of the cable when FLIP is 0? TEST1 does have a internal pull-down so it is okay to leave floating but we recommend a additional pull down as well. When you say the port is not workable you mean that the downstream device is not enumerating to the host correct? Is there a schematic I can review?
