DS100BR410: CML Receiver Input Threshold Levels

Part Number: DS100BR410

On sheet 5 of the datasheet, it lists the “Source Transmit Launch Signal Level” as 600mVpp, min and 1600mVpp, max.

  1. Is this equivalent to the receiver’s input thresholds?
  2. Does this mean that the receiver cannot detect a differential signal below 600mVpp, say 350-400mVpp?
  • Hi Zachary,

The part can detect signals well below 600mV.  The 600mV is a transmit launch voltage recommendation for optimal CTLE boost performance.  If the launch amplitude is below 600mV there will be very little signal remaining after 20+dB of attenuation.
