DS280BR810: Comparison with DS280BR820

Part Number: DS280BR810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS280BR820

Hi,

I saw from the forum that the main difference between DS280BR810 and DS280BR820 is the coupling caps and the better equalizer gain for the 820.

But from the datasheets it seems that the 820 support Auto-Negotiation,while the 810 does not. Can you please confirm ?

Regards,

Mariam

  • Hi Mariam,

The AC coupling capacitors on the DS280BR810 are the big difference.  By removing the capacitors from the output differential pairs there was a bandwidth improvement and better equalizer gain through the datapath.

Both devices are linear and are transparent to Tx FIR information from a system Tx.  This will allow either one to work in a link training application.

  • Hello Lee,

As I understand it Ethernet has 2 distinct steps while establishing the link Auto-Negotiation and link training.

Auto-Negotiation, to establish the link's speed. And Training sequence, to tune the link and optimize it once the speed is agreed on.

So both, DS280BR810 and DS280BR820, are transparent for auto negotiation, and link training ?

  • Hi Mariam,

Yes both devices are linear and transparent to the link training negotiation.
