SN65HVD3085E: How is the Receiver OUTPUT when either A or B is short

Part Number: SN65HVD3085E

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering SN65HVD3085E and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

We are confirming the receiver condition when either A or B is short. Another side is normal.

Which condition should we use on the datasheet P.15 Table 2.

Whether the output is determined by the VID(VA-VB) condition or is Fail-safe high?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hello Inoue-san,

Actually, in all cases the output is always determined by VID (assuming the receiver is enabled).  If it above VIT+ the output will be high; if it is below VIT- the output will be low.  The three failsafe cases listed in Table 2 are all ones that would tend to result in a VID near 0 V.  This is above the maximum VIT+ threshold, which results in an output high level.  Please let us know if this isn't clear or if you have further questions.

    Regards,
    Max Robertson

  • Hi Max,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand the output level depends on VID.

In this case, output will be high level.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

If the customer has an additional question, I consult you again.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi
